    Spring LIVE!

Get ready to say “Hello” to Spring Live! the revamped Spring Garden & Leisure Show at the South of England Showground in Ardingly, West Sussex on Sunday 6 and Monday 7 May.  Attracting over 16,000 visitors, Spring Live! offers the perfect day out and great value for money with under 16s entering for FREE, when accompanied by a paying adult.

With new additions and layout changes, Spring Live! will focus on celebrating all aspects of the great outdoors; where friends and families can enjoy sharing lots of new experiences together with plenty of outdoor pursuits and interactive entertainment including a new live music stage, survival skills workshops and inspiring creative zones.

The UK’s only interactive mobile caving system will return to the show offering visitors probably the most realistic artificial caving experience available above ground, with over 90ft of tunnelling inside including two levels, sumps, stalagmites and squeezes.

Bank holiday fun is spread across the weekend for all ages including juggling and plate spinning in the circus skills area and eye catching live blacksmithing displays.  Try your hand at archery and axe throwing or get creative at the workshops featuring a giant colouring cube.  Mini monster trucks offer exhilarating rides or choose something more traditional at the vintage fairground or maypole dancing.

A new live music stage, sponsored by Sussex Downs College, will be rolling out an exciting two-day programme featuring award winning past and present students to entertain the crowds.  Twenty-four other schools in the region have also taken part in a competition to win one of two slots during the weekend.

Top gardening tips for green-fingered enthusiasts will be provided in the ever-popular Gardening Theatre, where gardening guru Jean Griffin of BBC Sussex, Surrey and Kent will return for the weekend, chairing another exciting programme of Q&A sessions with a panel of horticultural experts.

There will be new exhibitors this year and hundreds of inspiring plants in the nursery area as well as an extensive range of gardening equipment to buy.  The National Vegetable Society will be in full swing, offering advice and selling young plants making an exciting ‘fork to plate’ exercise for the whole family.  Visitors can also enjoy the entries for the floral display competition in both the Beginners and Intermediate/Advanced classes exhibited in the Gardening Theatre.

The hugely popular mini sheep show will return to the show and children can also enjoy donkey rides and meeting other animals in the friendly Animal Barn, including some exotic reptiles this year.  Dogs are also welcome to the show and can take part in a new fly ball competition as well as the fun dog agility courses.

The annual South East Regional Alpaca Show will take place in the Abergavenny Building and visitors can learn more about the British countryside and the important work the South of England Agricultural Society is doing as a charity to support the industry in the Countryside Hub.

Mouth-watering menus can be enjoyed in the Norfolk Pavilion Café and enhanced food court and there will be many other tasty treats to take home, plus plenty of retail therapy on offer for country crafts and clothing, gifts and DIY, home wares, wellies and handbags!
