WIN! A vineyard and winery tour at Wiston Estate in Washington, West Sussex!

The Wiston Estate has been owned and managed by the Goring family since 1743. Its 6000 acres straddle the chalky slopes of the South Downs and the flat clay soils of the weald. The Wiston Estate Vineyard, which spreads across 16 acres was established by Harry and Pip Goring in 2006 and they first planted with the traditional varieties of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Since then the vineyard and winery, managed by Dermot Sugrue for last 11 years, has produced many internationally acclaimed wines.

And now Wiston Estate is pleased to offer a prize of two tickets on one of their Vineyard & Winery Tours, in the heart of the South Downs. The tour will begin with tea, coffee and biscuits, followed by an informative walk through Wiston’s vineyard, then a visit to the winery with their traditional Coquard Press (unique to the UK) where one can follow the journey of a grape from harvest to finished bottle. The tour concludes with a tutored tasting of 4 of Wiston’s award-winning Sparkling wines in their Wine Barn overlooking the vines.

To be in with a chance of winning this fantastic prize, simply answer the following question:

What varieties of grape were first planted by Harry and Pip Goring in 2006?

Send your answers to hello@southdownsfood.org by 31st January 2018 and the winner will be contacted by email.

Good luck!
