WIN! A tour at South Downs Honey – meet the bees that make this delicious, local honey

South Downs Honey produces honey of the highest quality from their bee hives in the South Downs National Park. They believe most important members of the team are the bees, and that the best bees for our area are the ones that are local. This is because the bees cope best in their local area’s weather and then produce the best honey.

Among the products that these South Downs bees produce are a spring set honey and summer wildflower honey as well as wax blocks and two types of traditional beeswax polish.

There are currently two sites, one in Sompting The Chalk Pit Apiary, and the other in the Adur Valley, Valley Barn Apiary, both of which are in the South Downs National Park. The sites produce very different tasting honey as the bees forage on different flowers and as the honey isn’t filtered or heated it means that the natural pollens, propolis and enzymes remain in it, influencing the flavour and meaning it still keeps its health benefits.

South Downs Honey can be found in Real Patisserie and The Best Health Food Shop, Shoreham;  Garlic Wood Butchers, Steyning; Maskill’s Butchers, Broadwater; Jeremy’s and Jeremy’s Two, Henfield;  Pixies Greengrocers, Goring; Rushfields Farm Shop, Poynings; The Great Little Farmers Market in Goring (first Saturday of the month); and Shoreham Farmers Market (second Saturday of the month).

And now the team at South Downs Honey would like to give one lucky winner a tour of their hives for two people! The prize includes an educational tour of the hives as well as tasters to enjoy during your visit.
